Can I post a Text-To-Speech (TTS) or AI Voice project?

You’re welcome to post a project for free that’s either Text-To-Speech (TTS) or AI Voice on Voice123, as long as you follow our steps that are built to empower voice actors to make informed decisions, weed out bad parties and provide both voice actors and companies with the best support.

Our updated guidelines for Text-To-Speech (TTS) or AI voice projects will engender more transparency and help build trust with voice actors.

Since these are emerging voice-over categories that will affect the future of voice over, union and non-union partners have indicated that they want to have more clarity on TTS projects moving forward. Understandably, our partners are concerned about the potential for misuse but are also excited about the possibilities this technology can bring.

After reviewing our policy with the help of NAVA and our voice actors, we have developed guidelines to help voice actors make the right choice when working with a TTS or AI voice company.

Voice123 aims to help voice actors make informed decisions, protect them from malicious individuals, and provide companies and voice actors with the best support.

Voice123’s expectations:

  • ‘In perpetuity’ TTS or AI Voice projects will not be allowed unless reviewed and cleared by our executive team.
  • Only verified corporate email addresses for clients posting TTS or AI Voice projects will be permitted.
  • As always, Voice123 proposals and samples remain the sole property of the voice actor and must be appropriately remunerated for their use.
  • Voice data can not be used for abusive purposes like fraud, discrimination, hate speech, or online abuse without infringing the law.
  • Future sub-licensing and transferable rights regarding AI projects must be made clear to the voice actor and included in the ‘What’s the project about’ section.
  • All payments for TTS projects must be completed through the Voice123 Booking and Secure Payment feature.
  • If no bookings are made, you must explain why voice actors weren’t booked before posting again.
  • Users and companies attempting to bypass these rules will face a ban.

Requirements for posting a project:

  • Please send Voice123 a copy of your default agreement at help@voice123.com. The agreement should be what you expect to sign with voice actors. We will include the agreement on file in case of any disputes. Any subsequent projects will be assumed to have a similar contract unless you send a follow-up agreement. If a contract is unavailable, please outline why and disclaim in the project that it is subject to a future agreement.
  • In the Voice Actor Requirements section, specify the usual project details like language, gender, and age.
  • Next, choose a project name but please include AI or TTS in your project’s title.
  • Choose your budget details and complete the optional Usage and Copyright section if you prefer.
  • Then, upload your script if you prefer, specify the date the project’s auditions are due,
and write the number of words in the script under ‘How long will the recording be.’
  • Finally, please answer the following questions under the section ‘What’s the project about?’
    1. Is the voice for training data?
    2. Is the voice going to be replicated?
    3. Will the voice data be sold or sublicensed to others?
    4. What are the purposes of the recording?
    5. How long will the voice data be used?
    6. Is there any exclusivity?
    7. What is your best estimate for the total recording budget for the project, and will there be any royalties?
  • Please do not post multiple AI voice projects for the same age, gender, or language combinations simultaneously. Instead, email our Customer Success Team at help@voice123.com to assist with collating multiple tones or characters for the same project.
  • Projects and clients that don’t have the above information will not be approved or will require editing before approval to include the information.
  • We reserve the right to block any project we believe is not in our voice actors’ best interests.
  • Review the image for an example of how the AI/TTS information should appear in the form.

If you would like to connect with our team, please schedule a meeting with managed services at your preferred time.

We appreciate your cooperation with this, and we look forward to hearing from you.
