Started in radio in 1969. Award winning copy writer and producer in Columbus, Ohio. Did disk jockey (the Great and Powerful Oz) and voice work until 1976 when I packed it in and went to graduate school.
Have been doing narration for my former employer, Unisys Corp, for over a quarter century. Work includes training videos, Powerpoint presentation voice-over, corporate events, and other incredibly boring things that still need a commanding voice to spice them up.
Worked with the Real Bob James at Ohio U, and in Columbus, and that alone makes for great training. The guy was a genius.
Worked as a copywriter, voice artist and producer with Bill Meeks (PAMS) in Dallas.
Appeared in several television commercials in Dallas and NYC which are thankfully lost to the ages. I have a face for radio.
Self-taught from a listening to and imitating commercials my whole life. Was initially a theater major until I discovered I like to earn money; still the voice training was quite valuable. Got more formal voice training at Ohio University where I majored in Radio-TV. Was a professor there later and taught production, announcing technique, etc., so if you don't like today's crop of talent it's all my fault.
Behringer B2-Pro Mic; Behringer mixer; Sound Forge Audio Studio 10.0; Toshiba laptop. Comcast high-speed Internet connection for fast ftp'ing (is that a word?). Nifty Samson pop filter, Sony headset, freezing-cold-in-the-winter and boiling-in-the-summer studio in New Jersey, balmy studio in south Florida..
I have been told by producers that I have a great knack for cold, accurate first reads. I'm able to "get it right" with very little coaching and no practice (which makes for a very cheap recording session, too).
At Unisys I was asked to pronounce some pretty hairy technical stuff (like long url's, techno jargon, etc.) and have been able to pull it off without spraining my tongue.
Can also sing (barbershop, Lead)..
