Ms. López has a degree in Public Communications from the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated with high honors (Magna Cum Laude). She furthered her post graduate studies at Florida International University (FIU) where she obtained a Certification in Personnel Administration.
Viviám hosts and produces the weekly music specialty program Cubaneando, heard Wednesdays 7pm-8pm (EST) in Miami's 88.9FM radio, which airs live on the web at WDNA.org.
She joined WDNA-88.9FM public radio in 1995 and directed/hosted the award-winning program Fusión Latina for almost 15 years. Prior to that, she worked at South Florida’s RadioAeropuerto (990 AM) and at Radio Universidad (WRTU-FM) in Puerto Rico. She is the Vice President of the Board of Trustees of WDNA.
Ms. López did voiceovers, interviews and interpretations in the national radio documentary of Gloria Estefan’s LATIN GRAMMY-winning recording "90 Millas".
You will also hear Viviám in radio commercials of Humana; and in corporate greeting messages in Spanish, English and Portuguese of several private companies.
Viviám has been Master of Ceremonies for major events in South FLorida such as Carnival Miami SunDay on the Mile, Tropicana All Stars Show, Miami Jazz Film Festival, Hollywood Jazz Festival, Viva Broward Festival, Viva Brasil Festival, An Evening of South American Jazz, the Miami International Song Festival. She was the Artistic Director & MC of the concerts “Una Noche Entre Amigos” for JP Torres, selected by The Herald as one of 2004’s best live events (Lo Mejor En Vivo); and also produced, directed and hosted the show Estrellas Para Una Estrella.
Viviám served as a celebrity judge for the talent search show "Live with Gaitan Bros." produced by Emilio Estefan Crescent Moon Studios. She also was celebrity judge at "Young Talent Big Dreams" competition of the Actor's Playhouse; and at the "the Hard Rock Café Celebrity Show Down".
She has done TV & print ads, fashion shows, hosted a show on Tele-Miami, and was “Miss October” in the Cuban Beauties calendar.
Ms. López is also an independent music journalist and investigator. She has been a speaker at Florida International University, at the Institute for Cuban & Cuban-American Studies’ Conference, and at the Baila USA Music & Dance Conference, on topics relating to Latin jazz and Afro Cuban music. Several of her articles have been featured in Miami’s cultural magazine El Pequeño Café.
Viviám has been interviewed & featured in publications such as El Nuevo Herald, Diario Las Americas, Latin Beat Magazine, Carteles Magazine, Continental Newspaper, Tropic Magazine. She appears in the 2006 calendar Pioneers of Latin Jazz and was a backup vocalist in the GRAMMY & Latin GRAMMY nominated recording “Tradición” (Best Traditional Tropical Album).
Ms. López was granted the Chico O'Farrill Lifetime Achievement Award by Latin Jazz USA for her outstanding contribution to the development and preservation of Latin Jazz in the USA. She also received an Honorary Award by the Federation of Cuban Musicians in Exile in appreciation for her ongoing investigative work and her endeavors in the preservation of Latin music history. And was recipient of the Carteles Award from the long-standing Carteles Magazine in Miami.
Ms. López is a graduate of the Leadership Miami program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the National and Latin GRAMMY Recording Academies.
