I am currently a utility character for a new podcast produced in Chicago, IL called The Cockburn Files. It's a noir-style radio show following the antics of Detective Joe Cockburn of Sterling City, PD. So far, I have portrayed a One-Legged Dancer and a Drive-Thru Dude. (Though when the first season has been completed, I will have also been Roxy, an Onlooker, and starring in the two-part finale, The DMV Lieutenant.)
BA Theatre: Acting degree and Stage Combat minor from Columbia College Chicago.
Studied Voiceover with Deb Doetzer in Columbia's Radio Department.
Studied Vocal Extremes with John McFarland in Columbia's Stage Combat Department.
Alto 2 - Mezzo Soprano singing range.
My Stage Combat training has given me a unique perspective on vocal storytelling. Specificity of vocals in the context of staged violence is imperative to telling a compelling story and keeping an audience engaged, especially in regards to being able to do so while performing such highly physical actions on stage. The breath support, clarity of speech, and varying of non-verbal vocals needed during a Stage Combat scene directly translates to engaging voiceovers, because despite the physical anonymity of this industry, full-bodied connection is still imperative to the kind of vocal work I aim to perform.
