I began using voices 28 years ago while working with elementary children reading books aloud or simply trying to keep their attention. In the past, I have taught 2nd graders who love to visit with 'Natasha', a Russian woman in her mid 40s who doesn't pull any punches. I have had a great time developing a southern accent by reading Uncle Remus stories. Since I've been reading out loud for so long, my first read through is pretty close to the mark.
I have most recently been the voice talent that opened a local Gospel concert. I also make live announcements for J.C. Penneys. In December 2006 I recorded a one minute commercial for a local Christmas tree farm.
Beginning in 2008, I began recording books at home for WIHS, a local, Christian Radio station. I not only record, but also edit my material before copying it onto a flashdrive and mailing it to the station. Each 30 minute program is aired twice daily. The feed back from listenters has been fantastic.
I received my voiceover training from an organization out of Schenectady, NY called The Creative Voice Develpment Group. I completed three one-on-one voice sessions with seasoned voice over artists who have been in the business for centuries. CVDG also recorded a professional demo tape that includes both narration as well as commercial pieces.
