1. I overheard an older work associate that I greatly respect, saying that a wise man once told him to never speak off the top of his head in certain situations; in other words, to plan out what you are going to say ahead of time.
2. That struck a chord with me because being a very detail oriented person I often lose people in the first minute of a conversation by jumping straight into the details, and I see the frustrated look on their face asking … ‘WHAT is Tom trying to say?’.
3. So I will now attempt in short 4-6 sentence chunks, not to talk off the top of my head, but from the bottom of my heart.
4. I will attempt to think first about what is it that I most deeply want people to hear, to know, and to experience when I connect with them.
5. Welcome to ‘Short thoughts from Tom Stone’.
