Bored with traditional fifth-grade poster projects, ten-year old TJ Dukes asked his teacher if he could present his science project a little differently. He grabbed his father’s VHS camcorder, went outside, and filmed and narrated his first wildlife documentary on the American Robin.
His excitement about using audio and video to tell a story led him to enroll in a four-year Media Broadcasting program at a local career and tech high school, where he now teaches that same program. He then went on to open his own video production business. While filming and editing a tv commercial for a local HVAC company, the client’s voiceover artist did not deliver by the deadline. TJ requested the script and recorded the voiceover himself. They loved it so much, they asked him to re-record a voiceover for another commercial they already completed. A career in voice acting was born!
