I run a small media company and southern Oregon and I'm an active participant in projects ranging from web design to video production. Providing voice overs is perhaps the most rewarding part of my job.
As part of my job I have provided voiceovers for web videos, instructional guides, radio ads, PSAs, etc. Frankly, I love it. And it's just one of things that always demands my full attention and I push myself regularly to be better at what I do. In the end, I want to feel good about the work I provide, and want to make sure that my client is pleased with not just the final project, but the whole experience.
I have a technical influence with a background in network television that really propels my interest. I can write ads, do a voiceover, provide my own post production and then follow through with an radio ad buy. Personally I think being able to facilitate this is cool as heck.
My introduction to voiceovers started in my teens. Some of my friends were radio DJs for local FM station and I was fascinated by how they made their living.
But it wasn't until I worked for a large publishing company during the internet boom that became active with podcastingt which is where I was more hands on. That led me into a working on a television show, and ultimately for a television network where I gained my familiarity with the process.
My experience really began after establishing a small web media company. As part of our companies offerings, we created a web studio and began shooting web videos for small businesses. That progressed into writing scripts for talent to do voiceovers for radio spots for my customers and eventually into being talent myself.
