A little bit about me:
I'm an outgoing, confident person, who loves to make new friends. I excel at conversation classes in particular. I work well in a team, as I love bouncing ideas off of like-minded individuals. I like working alone, also, as it gives me the opportunity to inject some humour and creativity into everything I do. I like to think outside of the box, especially when it comes to teaching, as I like to think of ideas to make learning come alive and engage students.
I'm interested in investigating the use of video games as a teaching tool; I've used them in the past to great success. I plan on focusing on this idea for my MA degree. Furthermore, I'm interested in discovering how to raise students' Foreign Language Enjoyment and have based my dissertation on this subject.
I would like to work long-term in Japan, with the hope of moving there one day. I would also love to move to Canada, as it's been a lifelong dream to live there.
Experience:
I have gained teaching experience via teaching practice at the University of Central Lancashire. I also had the opportunity to create my own classes, and teach English for a month in Uzbekistan (June 2019). I have had experience tutoring in one-to-one situations, including preparing students for IELTS exams. Currently, I am a self-employed English tutor, although I have dabbled in secondary school tutoring in the past.
I'm proficient in video editing and music production (listed below).
My other skills and hobbies include:
- Creating content on Youtube. This includes creating my own logos, branding, music, and videos via editing software. I am proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, and FLStudio music production.
- Creating music via FLStudio, Maschine MK3 interface use, and general instrument proficiency in guitar, bass, and keyboard.
- Cooking. I have had several meetings to attempt to open a ramen business. I've poured many hours into perfecting dishes, and would love the opportunity to run my own food business as a side project when I graduate.
- Photography. I studied photography at college. I have a good grasp of analogue and digital photography, as well as video recording.
- Voice acting. I have done some voice acting for several indie video games. I have a high-quality recording setup, and I'm looking to work in this industry further.
