All of my voice over experience is in news, and it has taught me how to read script and dialogue expressively. I have been a journalist for 5 years total. I started off doing voiceover work in college. But I really started developing my professional voiceover work when I worked for ABC news in Eugene, Oregon. I was a reporter and had to change my tone of voice for stories that ranged from hard news content to light hearted stories. I learned how to be more expressive in order to really capture the story and to pay tribute to those who willingly participated in telling their stories to me. I had a personal connection to each story because I was the first person to interview people in their sometimes most traumatic moments of life.
In Wichita, Kansas I worked for CBS news as an anchor/reporter. I produced and anchored my own 2 hour news show on Saturdays and Sundays. I also was the fill-in anchor for their 4 hour morning news on the weekdays. The experience taught me how to talk more conversationally for long stretches of time on live television.
I also worked in radio when I was in high school in small town Iowa. I ran the entire radio station solo giving me both technical and performance experience. I ran the audio boards and organized the station music, i.d's, and programs. I also was the announcer and conveyed a variety of information including weather, community events, sports and music.
I attended San Francisco State University and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Electronic Communication Arts with an emphasis on journalism and performance. I have also participated in theatre since I was 7 years old. I have taken various media performance and acting courses at SFSU as well as Mesa Community College in San Diego, California.
I have a professional studio mic (ST-2B by Galaxy Audio), Final Cut Pro, and Garage Band. I have also edited all of my own audio and video for the past 5 years for the mainstream media for a large audience under tight deadline pressure.
I am currently in the process of recording an audio demo. Here are some examples of my voice on television:
