I have won four silver awards and one bronze award for five consecutive years in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Speech Competition. Each piece varied from poem to prose and from public speech to acting. I have also successfully auditioned at two broadcasting schools including the CPTC (an agency responsible for recruiting most of Jamaica's public voices for TV programs)and NIB (National Institute of Broadcast) where James Carey was a student. Although not in the broadcast industry, my voice is the chief function of my job as a client service representative, where enunciation and pronounciation are imperative for my performance.
Currently, I have no formal training in voice over as my schedule with work and school have never permitted me. However, I do have formal training in acting from the Caribbean School of Visual and Performing Arts.
I am no longer involved in acting after nine years of theatre, but I have continued to use my voice for reading psalms during the meditation portion of church services. I am well known for my ability to read the scriptures adding life and expression to the words, making it interesting to listen to. I am a published poet in the International Library of Poetry and am currently considering to restart 'spoken word' performances, as well record some of my compositions on CD.
