Si "Pipes" Hawk has been doing voice over for more than two-thirds of his life, starting with reporting baseball and stock car racing for a local Top-40 radio station when he was 15. During his early years he worked as a reporter for a clear channel 50KW AM facility. During that time he regularly supplied voicer reports for UPI and AP Radio Networks. Many of those reports ran over NPR and the Armed Forces Radio Network. For a number of the positions he has held in the broadcasting industry, he has served as either the primary commercial voice and/or Commercial Production Director. He was the primary commercial voice for a an NBC-TV affiliate for nearly a decade. This facility produced most of the commercial work for the region during his tenure.
