My journey into voice acting started at a very young age. In fact, one of my first memories was having Donald Duck conversations with my older brother Tristan at the ages of 5 and 7 while we watched the Disney Channel on Saturday mornings. It's one of the first voices I could ever do, and that penchant for voices, mimicry, and characters has stayed with me to this day. (Wanna hear Donald? Growing up, I was a class clown, teacher's pet, and a total ham. It was a miracle I never got beat up! What was not so surprising was that I often found myself engaging in creative and performance pursuits, performing on stage in plays and musicals, and blasting my trumpet in the band room, at pep rallies, and Jazz recitals.
I had always loved the power of the spoken word, but once I started Middle School, a newfound love of the written word began to flourish as well.
My favorite classes were always English classes (which always seemed unusual, at least to my classmates!) and thanks to many wonderful teachers and mentors, I was inspired to become an English teacher myself. After several years at Western Washington University and it's excellent Woodring College of Education, I graduated with my Bachelors in English Literature, as well as a Masters in Teaching, and an ESL Certificate.
After that, I would spend the next 4 years in Japan teaching English to Elementary and Middle School students, marrying my love of English education with my desire to return to the country I had spent several golden years of my youth in with my family. The son of military parents, at the age of 10, I unknowingly became a "Third Culture Kid," living in a culture outside of mine and my parent's experience. That experience left an undeniable impact on me, and I am eternally grateful for the experiences and opportunities it has given me.
While teaching abroad, I began to pursue my lifelong dream of voice acting and narration in earnest. I spent years researching, listening, training, building and tweaking my home studio, gathering my marketing materials, contacting potential clients, and creating opportunities for myself.
Now, I am a Seattle-based voice talent with over 5 years of experience creating voiceovers for Commercials, Corporate Narrations, Audiobooks, Guided Tours, eLearning modules, and video games. With a youthful voice tinged with wisdom, I am frequently cast as teachers, doctors, and executives, and even the occasional prince! With my Educational and Performance backgrounds, I marry my love of the written word with an honest desire to connect with my audience, through effective communication and impactful performances. This experience has also proven invaluable in my work as the Manager of the Global Voice Acting Academy’s Membership Program, where I help GVAA’s members receive the resources and support they need to reach their own voiceover goals!
