I was watching my local TV station one day, when on came on a commercial for the National Institute of Broadcasting in Toronto, Canada. I had always had a commanding voice, and had been complimented numerous times, and not just by the ladies, so I decided to board a bus to audition.
I managed to find the studio in the busy downtown core, and joined several others in the waiting room for orientation. We got to know each other, and the celebrity voice actor, whom I didn't recognize, and we were filed away one by one to read commercials and record them for testing.
When it finally came to my turn, and I sat down in the recording booth and put my headphones on, I was ecstatic!! They presented me with 3 different commercials, pointed out how to properly pronounce certain words for radio and such, and started the music.
I was told I had a future in broadcasting, but when I returned home, I fell in love with a beautiful woman, and forgot all about my dreams.
I am a father of 3 beautiful kids. Anyone with children knows that you have to be an amazing voice actor to be an amazing father. I can impersonate just about any person or accent after listening to it for a short few minutes. I can be informative, and change just as suddenly to fun and outgoing.
