Ok experience time! Well, in college I was a production major which allowed me to voice all my commercials. That gave me an opportunity to try out different styles of voices (valley girl, sexy, character voices, italian, urban or just plain silly accents). As a teen I would be in several drama scenes at school and sure enough Savina was the narrator...I'm guessing my husky, loud voice grabbed the attention of all...the fact that I can project my voice is useful when you have a gym full of 800 students. I often do voice mail greeetings for companies and a few times I've done voice over work for CD promos.
I have received most of my training at Humber College. I was in the 2 year Radio Broadcasting program and was taught effecting speaking as well as extensive announcing skills for on air performance. Also, I've had training in acting for film and singing lessons which allowed me to explore my vocal range. Like I said in the previous blog I did quite a bit of theatre work as well. I believe that I am a well rounded talent and is willing to try any style of read.
I am currently looking for a voice coach to enhance my skills and brush up on my imperfections. As far as extra activities that support my voice over work, the only thing I could say would be that at my last two part time jobs I was nominated to make all special announcements for promotional giveaways over the speaker system. I have a way of making my announcements sound fun and exciting especially for retail purposes. I enjoy putting life into a script, it's entertaining and very rewarding. Try me out and see for yourself! Happy Searching! Savina...a.k.a Chexx:)
