I began doing straight voice work as the morning man at a small-town Midwestern station, working my way up to Program Director at a Top 40 station in a Missouri college town. I did considerable voice-over work in addition to my required duties, including narrations for theater productions and independent commercial production. I also portrayed Mark Twain in voice-overs, on stage in one-man shows and full-cast productions, for national product rollouts, at international expositions, and for video productions.
Prior to my career in radio, I began working in professional outdoor theater at the age of 13. It was this theater experience that led to my work as an actor portraying Mark Twain both live and in voice-overs. While earning my degree in Communications from Truman State University, I was a part of the summer stock theater company. While at Truman, I was Associate Editor of "Northeast Writers in Process," the school's Composition I textbook, as well as Associate Editor of the International Literary Journal, "The Chariton Review." I am a published poet, as well as the author of a blog that has achieved over 14,000 unique hits in its relatively short life.
