I have been involved in radio since 1985, the last 12 years as host/creator/producer of Portland, Maine's original 80s music program, STUCK IN THE 80s, on award-winning community station WMPG-FM.
For 6 months in 2005, I also took my show on the road, so to speak, with internet radio Meeker Broadcasting, based out of Colorado, where STUCK IN THE 80s was successful for the 6 months I was on the air there.
I have always thought I had a good voice for voice-overs etc., but Portland, Maine isn't quite the best place to get voice-over work, which is why I chose Voice 123.
I have done interviews with recording artists like Cyndi Lauper, have produced promos and public service announcements for WMPG, contributed my voice talent for a couple of political profiles for WMPG, and also wrote and produced a special for WMPG about the first anniversary for 9/11.
I graduated from the New England School of Broadcasting (now the New England School of Communications) in Bangor in 1985. I lost my Maine accent at NESB, but can bring it back now and then if needed. As for voice-over training outside of NESB, it's just been a collective experience over the years for me, as I continued my college and community radio experience. I've also written scripts that were used for promos, not only for my shows, but for other events at WMPG.
All of the years I have been improving and enhancing my voice, I have also taken a passion for writing. I am currently a freelance music writer for Portland's online publication, thebollard.com, and have received much praise for my reviews of local and national recording artists. I am also in the process of writing an 80s reference book and a screenplay.
