Ron | Voice over actor

For the majority of my life I have used my voice in my artistry. In my first year of college I was a radio DJ, tantalizing listeners with my soothing baritone voice, and playing a wide spectrum of music from hip hop to punk rock. Yes, there was a time when college radio had that kind of freedom. I spent a number of years performing in community theater, playing both heroes and villains, before venturing into the world of writing and performing solo shows of original material. In fact, I received the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award for my first solo show. For seven years, I volunteered as a narrator for the audio books department at the Maryland Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, and had a few contractual paid voiceover gigs with the nonprofit organization Wide Angle Youth Media. I hold both a BA and MFA from the University of Baltimore, and for five years served as adjunct professor and faculty fellow at the Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics. I received National Society of Leadership and Success Excellence in Teaching, and alternate for the Fulbright Scholarship. As the Prophet of Horror, founder/creator of my YouTube channel of the same name. I arrange, produce compose, and perform works of horror, from original short stories, poetry and short films, to book promotion videos, to talent interviews and highlight videos of horror conventions. Although I have delved into various genres, and have a great appreciation for them, my passion is horror. As a youngster, I immersed myself in reading Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe, and as a young adult, the Anne Rice novels. I took great delight in watching the UK’s Hammer films productions, as well as the Creature Feature horror series, and avidly watched the legendary filmmakers, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Tobe Hooper, Wes Craven and George Romero. As I delved more into my YouTube channel, I realized that horror is my Shakespeare. It allows me to play with styles and voices in a manner that is completely adventurous to me. Mystery, thriller, and suspense are close cousins, for they all lurk in the shadows, bringing truth to light, and excitement to the reader, listener and viewer.
