After hearing for years I belonged on radio, the door finally opened in 2000. I was at my church when a young mother was having behavior issues with her two young sons. I stepped in to reinforce her and discovered she was the station manager for KCHL Gospel 1480 in San Antonio,TX. She waived the demo tape requirement and convinced the station owner that I was ready to start that weekend. At the time I was an OTR truck driver recooperating after a diabetic coma, so I worked parttime for two years before returning to trucking. While at KCHL I did a promo for my Pastor Rev. Dr. Claudette A. Copeland for her annual Destiny Ministries Texas Roundup. I am currently a professional communicator for a publishing company, and hear daily from my clients as well as co-workers I should be doing voiceovers or narrations. I started public speaking at age 14 and am extremely comfortable behind the mike. I have the talent for this, therefore I am seeking opportunities at this time. Ironically, I am not fond of my voice, however many others are.
This gift is God given. While growing up my Dad insisted we use proper diction and my wife continues to correct my enunciation yet today.
