I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California, in a pretty creative family. My dad, uncle, and dad's close friends were always trying to make it in the music industry, so I grew up in recording/rehearsal studios and even on a tour bus, for a short time. My middle and high schools were performing arts schools, where I sang in the choir, played violin, and was in the high school's drama class. Being a kid, I was always too in-my-head about it, and I never really blossomed into the creative I could be on a stage, but I did become really good at writing. I taught myself guitar when I was 10, and throughout middle and high school began writing my own songs, music, poetry, and stories. When I joined the Navy, most of my creativity fell to the wayside, largely because I didn't have much energy for hobbies after work. I've always loved science and criminology, so there was a long time that I wanted those things to be my career. Lately, though, thanks to discovering Dungeons and Dragons (and of course Critical Role) and Elder Scrolls Online, I've realized how important creativity is in my life, and how much it means to me, so I've decided to put myself back into the performing arts world and see what happens. I started streaming on Twitch over at twitch.tv/Ysmeira in February of 2020, and getting to do something creative that helps me connect with other people regardless of physical distance has been amazing, and has reawakened my love and need for creative activities, and has reminded me how wonderful sharing those things with others is. Stories are so important to experience and to share, and I'd love to be one of the lucky people to help bring those stories to life!
