Rick Blakely is an experienced Voice Actor who knows the language CLIENTS speak -- because he's been on the other side of the mic as well; with a two decade career as an award-winning Network television writer/producer/editor in Hollywood.
AND he's available 24/7 via email or phone.
Rick got into the business in Albuquerque, the city where Bugs Bunny should have always turned left. That's where his gift for mimicry revealed itself at an early age. He started to entertain his fellow fifth graders with bad impressions of comedian Flip Wilson's "Geraldine" character, John Wayne, the Beatles, his teachers, and other faculty and staff.
Though those performances got big laughs from his friends, they didn't always set well with school administrators, and frequently ended with long trips to the principal's office.
During his junior year in college at the University of New Mexico, Rick was fortunate enough to land a job in TV as Live Booth Announcer/Audio Engineer at the ABC affiliate, which paid a whopping $140 per WEEK! Soon after he landed a gig as on-camera talent at the station; becoming one of the youngest Mr. Fortunes ever, on the station's "Dialing for Dollars" Movie, and doing live commercials and interviews for everything from mom and pop pet stores to edible face cream. He also held stints as weekend Sports Anchor at the CBS affiliate, and stints as local co-host for the Muscular Dystrophy, and March of Dimes telethons.
In 1994, he moved his family to Los Angeles, to take a job at the upstart FOX network,
which coincidentally had just purchased the rights to the NFL right out from under the noses of the CBS brass in one of the most stunning television rights coups of all time.
From there, FOX became more than just the fourth network, ultimately climbing to America's number one network for eight years straight, behind the behemoth phenomenon that was American Idol.
In that time, Rick played an instrumental role in the network's marketing and promotion department, helping create launch and episodic campaigns for everything from Married With Children to American Idol and beyond.
His fellow producers also recognized his vocal prowess, and often asked him to voice "scratch tracks" for their spots; his characterizations of entertainment icons like Wolfman Jack, Boris Karloff, and Thurl Ravenscroft and others often found their way into FOX promos.
He's lent his voice to projects for clients including CBS, ESPN, FOX, FOX Kids, FOX Sports Net, truTV, OWN, WGNAmerica, and many others.
