In college I sarted out as a disc jockey on the campus radio station, but my vocal abilities and skills soon broadened to toward polished news reporting, narration, and classical music announcing. My professional on air experience began with commercial radio (as an announcer and occasional voice talent for commercials and public service announcements) and television (though I was a producer/director/writer/video editor, I became an occasional voice over talent as well). Later on in my career I progressed to public radio and television programming, including morning news anchor, interviewer, classical music host with the former, and documentary narration, continuity and promotion voice talent for the latter. I have used my voice in public speaking as well--broadening my vocal range, and refining my skills with a microphone in front of a live audience. I'm a risk taker when it comes to using my voice, and I am able and willing to seek new ways for using my voice.
Education includes a BA in Broadcast Communications and a Master of Divinity degree. Over the years, as a professional broadcaster, I have been steeped in radio and television production--my knowledge base also includes public speaking as well as on-air performance. I became a media production specialist, and have created, and vocally performed in, many industrial and educational programs as well. I have extensive digital editing experience in both audio and video. I have written scripts and produced programs.
Relatively early in my career I directed an Emmy Award winning documentary, and did much of the research regarding the selection and editing of musical elements incorporated in that award winnning program. I directed the narration (there were two narrators I had to guide) which proved to be a key element in raising the overall production value incorporated into that documentary. I have developed a keen ear for how a human voice can best be used in virtually any form of communication.
I own, and am skilled in using a non-linear digital editor for audio and video. I have a small studio in my home, with a broadcast quality audio mixer, broadcast quality microphone(s), and the ability to convert digital audio recordings into various audio file types. I am able to transfer audio files (depending on their size) either via email or through the website YouSendIt.com. I can also produce CD and DVD formatted programs.
Thanks to my years in video production, I am able to produce professional quality graphics, that both complement and brand any media recordings I produce (cd, DVD, cassette, etc.)
