In my many jobs that I've had, I have never had to be more attentive and structured, then in my past and current jobs'. I currently work as a call centre operator which the title is obviously self explanatory. As I become someone else when talking to people over the phone - I imagine a stern and confident individual who delivers a commanding yet approachable voice.
Another job I had that relied on my vocals, was as a chatline operator, which was interesting and an eye opener to say the least.
I had to use my imagination and dream up all sorts of weird and wonderful characters, that involved whips and chains, knives and forks and even spoons and aliens. Yes I know can you believe spoons!. Well I did say it was an eye opener, I nearly even lost one. But I guess that's just some peoples bedroom habits.
And in case your wondering my voice had to reflect most of these playful pastimes. which helped me to become uninhibited!
I attended a Voice master 3 part/day training course. We were taught the PSR method (presentation, skills, reading)this technique basically was about learning to use our voices accordingly i.e slow, fast, sexy etc. We were then given special scripts to take home and practice. These were commercial and corporate narrations scripts. For the final part we were required to call back or attend, to be timed and see how we progressed.
currently have no studio equipment.
I have a life long love of the arts - predominately performing arts, from participating, winning and choreographing dances. To getting involved in drama groups in front and behind the scenes.
Then in the last few months finally bringing together all of those vivid elements by completing courses in digital video camera and editing and digital editing using final cut.
My biggest passion is dance which I intend to take up once more and my finest distraction in writing - poetry is my weakness, I recently had one of poems displayed at a widely known U.K based charity exhibition which guided me back to voice overs.
to dance=steps to walk
to write=opens ways to think
to speak=a done deed
To simply perform - is a dream I am achieving!!
