I went to school for audio engineering, first at Wayne State University and then at the Recording Workshop, and there were projects that taught us how to do post production and voice over work. I did the voice overs for these projects as well as the production and I rather enjoyed it.
I once wrote and produced a 30 second radio commercial in an hour and a half. It was a parody of a prescription drug where I list off many humorous side effects very quickly in such a way that they can still be understood.
My professional and technical training is as an audio engineer. However I studied music at Wayne State University with a focus on my voice and for many years before that I was involved in musical theatre where I learned a lot about acting and singing.
I own a Mac Pro with an M-Audio Pro Fire 610 and an M-Audio Solaris microphone, I also own an SM-57 and 58 by Sure. I run Pro Tools 8 M-Powered with a collection of McDSP plug ins. I mix on a pair of M-audio BX5a studio monitors.
I am capable of quickly and competently reading and recording a script and if you need a full production I can also do the full mix with any other media you would like to include. I can do this all from my own home studio, or I can go to any studio in the metro Detroit area. I'm friendly, easy to work with, and as an engineer myself, producers will find me very easy to work with.
