I went to school for audio production - then was working full time as an audio tech at the time. I got my start in V/O work by voicing a couple of company radio and TV spots. Later I voiced training materials at another job, then phone systems. Eventually I realized I could (and should) be offering this as a service to others.
Equipment:
I'm using a Focusrite audio interface with typically 1 of 2 mics:
1. A shure Beta 58 or
2. A Rode NT1A
While the large condensor (NT1A) offers a better tone, it also requires a nearly perfect space to work in. The Beta58 is often used as a quick grab-and-go setup as needed.
I do my editing in Presonus Studio One. I used to be a protools user as well, but I made the move to Presonus when I purchased one of their audio interfaces a few years back, and I haven't gone back.
