I have experience as a radio newscaster and news director. During that time, I recorded many radio commercials, PSA's and announcements. I left the field to become an educator at the secondary level, leaving the field after serving as a teacher, counselor, and vice principal. I kept my hand in somewhat with PA announcements and hosting events. I then did some voicing as a part of my work with Second City performances, and in the animated feature "Tagged". I have been the narrator for a year on the stage show, "The Vagina Monologues" and recently was chosen to narrate a staged reading for a script that is currently under consideration by several major broadcasting entities. I have returned to the voice over field and am currently working on a short documentary piece for a large corporation.
I have a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies and a masters in counseling and education administration. I graduated from the KIIS Broadcasting workshop, after which I worked in radio for five years as a newscaster and news director. I am currently training in voice over work and technique with Edge Studios and Spike Spencer. I am also taking acting classes with Tony Torrisi who studied with Stanislavski.
I am a graduate of the Second City conservatory program, have performed in a show choir and narrated their Holiday program. I played the goddess Athena in the play, "Electra". I have been (and am currently) narrating and performing three monologues to sold-out audiences in "The Vagina Monologues" for the last year. I have performed in more than 20 short films, acted in several episodic television series, and worked with the Bureau of Veteran's Affairs on a PSA. I was selected to narrate a staged reading of a script that is currently under consideration by several major broadcasting entities.
I have a MAC computer. I have a SHURE PG42 microphone, and an Apogee MiC. I use Twisted Wave, and garage band and can deliver files in .mp3, WavePack, Wav64, AIFF., etc. I have Skype and Mac face-to-face for communication.
I have owned a small business, and bring a strong understanding of many aspects of business to my work. I have done comedy work with Second City and in films and can bring a light, playful aspect when needed. I have been a parent, and a grandparent, and so am very attuned to family and the concerns involved raising children. I have been a teacher, guidance counselor, and vice principal which brings me a significant understanding of educational, psychological, and administrative issues — not to mention empathy and compassion. I have worked as journalist and editor, focusing on the importance of clear communication in my work. I am SAG eligible.
I love to work with my voice; a woman in the audience came up to me recently and told me that she got goose bumps every time I spoke the narration for the show. That's what I'm talkin' bout!
