I’m Mark Smith — a mixing engineer, music producer, musician, and voice actor with a passion for creating, performing, and teaching music. Since 2008, I’ve guided guitarists of all levels and genres at Ready to Rock School, helping players unlock their musicianship with confidence and creativity. In 2014, I expanded into teaching within schools and colleges, and by 2019 I was delivering A-Level Music Technology and UAL Performance & Production, specialising in sound design, recording, and studio production. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Music and Sound Technology from Portsmouth University and a PGCE in Post‑16 Education. I’m proficient in Logic Pro X, which I use extensively for teaching, production, and voice-over work. Alongside education, I’ve worked in live sound and lighting for theatre and as a live sound engineer, gaining real-world experience in professional audio environments. 🎭 Voice Acting & Narration Alongside my music and production work, I am an emerging voice actor specialising in: Audiobook narration — fiction, non-fiction, and educational content Character voice work — dynamic voices for games, animation, and audio dramas Commercial and corporate voiceover — clean, articulate delivery for adverts and branding E-learning and instructional narration — clear, approachable, and professional tone My background as a vocalist, performer, and recording engineer gives me strong control over vocal texture, delivery, and emotional intent. Whether delivering a calm, warm narration or dynamic character performance, I approach each script with musicality, clarity, and storytelling in mind. 🎸 Performance & Creative Work Outside the classroom, I’m deeply involved in live and studio performance: Performer: I sing across multiple genres and play guitar in lead, rhythm, acoustic, and electric styles—covering pop, rock, jazz, soul, and more. This versatility allows me to perform confidently at weddings and functions through Listening Out Entertainment. Artist: I am the vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for Dead Authors, with releases on Spotify including an EP, singles, and a live album. Producer & Mixing Engineer: I bring years of experience working with diverse musicians, applying an understanding of arrangement, emotion, and production dynamics to every mix. 🎧 My Creative Philosophy Whether I’m producing a band, guiding a student, or narrating a story, my goal is always the same: to capture authenticity. The studio is not a place to disguise or artificially perfect music or voice—it’s a space where artists express something real. I focus on trust, communication, and collaboration to bring out the best performance, ensuring the final product feels honest, engaging, and emotionally resonant. My combined background in performing, engineering, teaching, and voice acting gives me a deep sensitivity to storytelling, tone, and musical nuance—elements that shape everything I create.
