I have performed on over 20 TV puppet shows in the UK and helped to create imaginative characters for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and other independent producers.
I worked as a puppeteer on two Muppet Movies (Christmas Carol and Treasure Island) but I did not provide voices, although I do a great Fozzy Bear and Kermit.
The characters I helped create were series regulars or lead characters, ranging from talking sofas, aliens, door knockers, ostriches, and host of other fictional beings.
The voices were usually created to match character designs or finished puppets. It's easy to see if the voice matches the character, and I have a knack for that.
Two of my voices appear on the BBC's OZMO English language (ESL) program - created 10 years ago- which is still being sold Worldwide.
My original training was at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. I worked/trained with John Blundell at Cannon Hill Puppet Theatre in Birmingham, which is sadly no longer running.
When I began to perform with puppets full time I learned 'on the job' working for companies such as the BBC and GMTV.
I have been mimicking voices since I was a child, and I'm always pleased and a little surprised at people's responses to my characters.
At home we have a small one person sound booth, with a Nady studio microphone and Alesis mixer recording onto a dedicated PC. Recording and post production software is Adobe Audition.
For larger jobs we work with a local sound post production facility and have access to a larger (6 person) sound both and Pro Tools setup.
I am a writer and can work with clients to produce dialog for most types of project.
My wife (also and VO artist) and I also write and produce a comedy show for the web called 5 Minute TV.
