Host and Producer of "Money on Monday" Weekly Stock Market Commentary and Investment Advisory Show - WMT-AM Radio - Cedar Rapids, IA -- 1998- 2005
I have never had any formal training in broadcasting, instead majoring in English at the University of Michigan. After cutting a few commercials, in 1988 I started in radio as an unpaid weekend sportscaster. I soon moved into live sports as a play-by-play announcer/color commentator for TV and radio broadcasts of college and high school football and basketball games. This became my passion, and I regularly announced a televised "Game of the Week" for the next 15 years, before moving to Las Vegas in 2005. This visibility on TV led to increasing requests for studio work in voice-overs, commercials and film narrations. I also began volunteering as an announcer at numerous charity auctions and golf tournaments. I also became the host of a live sports show on FOX-TV, interviewing local coaches as weekly guests. Quickly becoming comfortable in front of the camera, I developed the conversational skills that are so critcal during a live TV talk show. My next new venture was as a public address announcer, leading to more than 10 seasons with numerous professional basketball and hockey teams, as well as a ring announcer in hundreds of pro boxing matches.
While I love radio and TV, it is not my career (yet). In my "day job" I am a Senior Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch in Las Vegas. In 1998, I had an idea that investors might enjoy listening to a "play-by-play" description of the daily "game" on Wall Street. I started to host a new morning radio show each week that offered general advice on investing in the stock market. I took questions from callers live on the air, explaining the details behind various investments. "Money on Monday" became a roaring success and the phones were soon ringing off the hook with investment questions from listeners. It became the top-rated talk radio show in the entire market, attracting over 20,000 weekly listeners across a 7-state market. It became the best marketing idea I've ever had, and I continued to write and host the show until moving to Las Vegas in 2005.
I still enjoy announcing at various sporting and charity events here in Las Vegas. With an expert understanding of both the sports world the complexities of the financial markets, my deep resonance and confident tone can best be described as a knowledgeable and trusted voice of experience. I grab the attention of the listener, and my powerful delivery leaves the audience with a message they remember as notable in both authority and integrity.
