I have little to no voice over experience. I have created online tutorials at my workplace and it is used as a training tool. However, my main experience would be in telling/reading stories or recounting experience where I love to provide character voices with accents to vary and inject life into the piece being read/recounted. When I attended a online tutorial authoring tool course, part of the course was to record our voices and it was during this course that I was shown the very basic rules in recording audio for a presentation. The course was teaching me how to use an authoring package called Adobe Captivate and it was a 1 day course. Digital work station and pro-mic. Apart from the training materials for my work, I am an IT Trainer by profession and I work in a city law firm, so my target audience are solicitors and their support staff. My other vocal experience is that of being a Jazz singer, I perform at open mics and I do also gigs with a pianist and/or band. So in Jazz not only do you learn great musicality but you also learn how put across the feelings of a song, i.e. feelings of sadness when singing the blues, happiness if singing more swing or uptempo songs. To sing Jazz well you have to be able to feel the emotion of the words and music, which that ability to convey such complex feelings is a useful trait in speaking work I would think. Also the musicality in Jazz music can be useful when speaking using accents as you hear the tone of an accent to mimic it successfully just as you listen to the tones of a song, again to convey the emotion you wish to express.
