About Maayan
I am a filmmaker, actor, and writer with roots throughout the world. Born in Costa Rica to a Nicaraguan father and a Jewish Belgian mother, I lived and travelled internationally as my mother fought poverty with the United Nations. The exposure to so many wonderful cultures and languages imbued my worldview, a nurturing that blossoms in the art I create and how I express myself. Currently living in New York City, I am a graduate of the two-year Meisner Program at the William Esper Studio, a place where I became a versatile and skilled artist through acting and voice lessons.
I am currently perfecting my skills through voice classes with Ana Garduno.
My voice relates to teen, millennial,"xennial", or gen X audiences. It's versatile yet authentic - warm but cool -
with a relaxed confidence, or animated high energy, to match a wide range of projects. My sound is truly unique, and stands out from the rest, and my goal is to bring out the uniqueness of your project.
Every new project is exciting for me, and an opportunity to bring my best! I am excellent at taking direction, appreciate the nuances, as well as self direction.
I can portray the friendly girl next door, an enthusiastic teen, an honest millennial, a savvy mom, an informed professional, a knowledgeable loyal family employee, an inspired student, a poetic storyteller, or a caring advocate... all with an approach that is natural, and relatable. Being able to sing also comes in handy!
