My experience to date has been that of a voice writer for the hearing impaired. I do captioning work for IBSU, which is a captioning company that works directly with the California Community College System providing closed captioning services for the hearing impaired with regards to on line courses, teachers conferences, etc. I work from home exclusively and use the Eliminate voice over IP recording system.
I am a former court reporter who wanted to extend my working career via voice captioning. I completed a Voice Writing course recently at Verbatim Careers Institute where I received my certificate in Voice Writing. I also have attended college and have my Associates Degree in Stenography. I am well versed in legal, medical and broadcast terminology and am currently doing work as a captioner for the California Community College system.
I am working on the Eclipse Vox voice writing system with direct modem as well as the Eluminate Voice over IP system.
My experience as a freelance Court Reporter heightened my ability to hear, listen and process voicing as a skill that I have continued to perfect. As a work-at-home contractor, I have the flexibility to work when the job presents itself and my organizational skills and discipline are excellent. I have the time and desire to branch out and take on new challenges and opportunities as they present themselves.
