I was lucky to have started my voiceover career this year as Lucy Washington Helm, the daughter of a plantation owner, in the documentary "Visions of the Past: Wessyngton Plantation," now showing at the Tennessee State History Museum http://www.tnmuseum.org/custpage.cfm/frm/50767/sec_id/50767
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have participated in this wonderful story, based on the book by John Baker, Jr.
I attended the University of Texas at Austin and obtained a degree in Advertising.
I'm reaching out to online webinars, researching acting classes in the Atlanta area, attending film and voice meet ups.
I have served as Public Relations Chair for a private school, was interviewed recently for a medical video for WebMd, and have been interviewed for print for the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Dekalb Community Service Board for volunteer work involving public relations, advocacy and fundraising. I guess I use my voice a lot!
On a personal note, I am required to modify my voice according to the audience I am "working with." As a personal assistant to a young adult, I have my calm but assertive voice. With doctors, my informed and appreciative voice. With fundraising prospects, upbeat and convincing. I lead a dramatic life, not always by choice, but it has worked out okay!
I am a newcomer to the voiceover industry. The final project was recorded at a fellow actors home studio. I am very interested in investing in basic equipment that will allow me an opportunity to compete for projects. In the meantime, I am willing and open to professional suggestions for providing you with the talent and finished product you require.
I am fun, friendly, personable, a quick learner, and a positive person. Careers I have had have included background acting, pre-school teacher, copywriter, medical sales rep, administrative assistant and community advocate. For five years, I trained physicians and staff on hospital voice processing systems. (I worked as a rep for a line of 55 voice processing products) As a mother, I was an avid reader to my children, and an active participant in public relations committees for their schools. My family is a kind, charitable and fun loving bunch. Humor is part of my DNA. I have a young spirit, energy, patience and a willingness to adapt easily to new situations. As a volunteer, my knowledge of speaking to small and large audiences allows me to hone my skills not only as a speaker, but as a good listener, communicator and responder.
