Aside from doing the voicemail recordings at my place of work, this is my debut in the voice over world. It is something that I didn’t take seriously or even know where to start until I auditioned for a local radio station’s “Talk Star” contest. I was chosen to be one of 20 finalists, out of about 1000 people who showed up to audition. Although I didn’t win, (in fact, I had to resign from the contest due to my status in the military) I was turned on to the voice over industry, and have been told by many that I would be quite good. Although I have never had any formal training, I have always had a unique ability to 1) Remember lines from movies, TV, and radio, 2) Repeat those lines word for word, and 3), capture not just the sound and tone of the persons voice but also the very emotions and personality that drive it. This is something that I’ve done for fun through out most of the years of my life. I am also an amateur musician, at which I have also never had any formal instruction. I play, sing, and even speak “by ear”, and by ear alone. When it comes to sound, hearing it, and delivering it, I possess a rare talent. As for my “day job”, I work in the Telecommunications field. I am extremely well versed in computer, network, and internet technology, as well as telephony. I have 7 years of experience backed by many certificates of training. I am familiar with voice mail systems and “phone trees”, the internal workings of video games, and possess a working knowledge of the telecommunications language/terminology.
