Lillian Tshabalala is a Multidisciplinary Artist. She is a
Graduate of The Market Theatre Laboratory; in 2016 she
Studied Shakespeare at Howard Community College in Maryland (USA).
Her Theatre credits include: Tick Tock, SHE, Running, Touched, Informal, My Richest Yard, and Spoken Silence & Balalatladi to mention but a few.
She has toured with Omphile Molusi’s “Cadre” which premiered at the Chicago Shakespeare theatre in 2013 then toured to The Market Theatre,Grahamstown NAF, the Edinburgh festival in Scotland and the Cultch Theatre in Canada; she was also Music director for this very
Show. She co-wrote & starred in Gogo and big sister alongside legendary Thembi Mtshali Jones for the Grahamstown NAF and the National Black Theatre Fest in North Carolina (USA) in 2013. In 2017 she starred in Ankobia, a play by Standard Bank Young Artist Award winner; Monageng “Vice” Motshapi. In 2019 she traveled to Copenhagen to collaborate in an Award winning western theatre piece titled Dark Noon directed by Tue Biering & Nhlanhla Mahlangu. She also joined the Betsey Cox Summer Camp for girls in Vermont (USA) as a Drama Counselor & Play co-director alongside Hannah Waskowits that year. In 2021 Lillian performed in a Digital Theatre show titled ‘Avatar me’ starring five actors from various countries produced by
International Theatre Company ‘Fix & Foxy’, on the same year Lillian returned to perform in Dark Noon for a tour at venues in Paris & Lille (France). Most recently; the arts company PotatoPotato from Sweden commissioned Lillian to produce, write and star in a short film inspired by a Nordic poem that was selected for her to work from as a source of inspiration. The film titled Iculo Lenhliziyo received 2 nominations from the Africa Emerging Filmmakers for Best Script & Best Sound.
Lillian has worked as a voice over artist under The VoiceBank. Her television credits include Award winning SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas
Season 2,Generations, Regrets, Mamzo wama Thando, Amagugu, and Mzansi Magic
series titled Vuka mawulele . She’s a firm believer in healing people through storytelling!
