I like to think that being a young adult woman in college grants me plenty of exprerience with voice simply because of the massive amounts of talking that I do. Of course I know that as far as a resume is concerned I would not be able to add "professional phone talker" to the list. Several years ago in Louisville, Ky. I was asked by a former teacher to audition for a Hamilton Printing voice spot. I auditioned and got the part, and as far as professional voice over work this is where my resume ends, sadly. I do pride myself on my versatilty at a young age. I was asked to do a young child's voice when I was a blossoming teen. I know that I am still very young, but ever since that first job with Hamilton Printing I have been aching to do more voice work. I hope that I am able to pursue this goal and I plan to make my voice as versatile as possible in the hopes of attaining more jobs.
While in grade school I attended a program called "Youth Performing Arts School." This is where I met with the teacher who helped me to attain my first voice job. I was trained in theater and voice over work, as well as improvisation classes. I attended this training program for about three years until I had reached middle school. While in high school and middle school I took choir for all seven years. Choir taught me the mechanics of my voice and how to preserve my vocal chords. I was also taught the best way to maintain a healthy singing voice. Thanks to those years of choir I know what my voice range is and I was able to expand that range immensely. Throughout middle school and high school I took piano lessons, and while I do not claim to be an accomplished pianist I cannot discount the amount of theory that I learned. All the theory has helped me greatly in the world of music.
I am very good at following directions to a tee. If I am asked to act strictly professional, I do so. If a script would call for me to be boisterous and loud, I would quickly comply. Being young I have ample amounts of energy that can either be released or channeled into one specific task. My previous jobs include: child care, food services (Papa Murphy's Pizza), secretary for a private practice, and file system manager at the Baylor University Press. I am very accoustomed to working with people and I enjoy that very much. My personality is my best selling point, and I hope that I have given you some insight into this personality.
