About Kent
Member sinceDec 11, 2007
My general delivery is moderately deep and authoritative. However, coming from a theatrical background, I am a considerable voice actor with substantial range capable of providing the desired effect on any voice over project.

Additional vocal abilities
As a native Texan, I am particularly suited for Southern and Western American as well as some regional Hispanic and Cajun-sounding accents. I am also adept at a number of American regional accents including North Eastern and urban-sounding dialects (New York, Boston, etc.). I also enjoy doing many types of British (including Irish, Scottish, Australian and South African) and European accents (French, German, Italian, etc.). I'll give anything a try and have done accents from most major nationalities including many oriental regions, Russian and others. I have also enjoyed trying celebrity impersonations, but find this a bit more difficult than generic accents.
Experience, training, and equipment
A Music and Theatre double major in college, I learned a great deal about entertainment in general and applied it throughout a successful radio career of more than 30 years. Having extensive experience in radio advertising, I have a unique understanding of what clients want to accomplish with their audio projects. I have won various awards for commercial advertisements, including one of my most successful projects; a radio campaign for the Nashville Symphony that required a comic "public service" delivery and won the 'Best Of Show' Addy for 2004. In addition to winning Addy Awards in every market I have worked in (both local and regional), I have achieved Silver Microphone Awards [including 'Best Talent,' National]; Crime Stoppers International, Inc. Radio Awards; and numerous March of Dimes Air Awards.
Voice over work is nothing if not acting. Performances in college and semi-professional theatre, including a part in the Palo Duro Canyon production of "Texas" and challenging roles in plays such as Samuel Beckett's "Waiting For Godot," began my training as a voice actor. Through most of my radio career I have had to voice 15 to 25 scripts a day in commercial advertising. I have had to create any number of characters from cartoons to movie stars using accents from an Irish leprechan to a Bronx cab driver. My training in the real world of radio advertising has been invaluable in learning to convey an idea or concept for effect in reaching a specific audience.
My studio has de-volved over the years as technology has advanced. What used to be done with a 12 channel Phonic board and a Pevey stereo amp in a home-built closet studio, I now accomplish with an Electrovoice RE27 microphone through an Tascam US-144 MK II into my laptop using Adobe Audition CS 5.5 software.
In addition to the voiceover talent I have honed over the years, I have made a career of producing myself and other voice over talent for commercial advertising, radio station imaging, long form radio shows, on hold messages or voicemail messages and audio-visual presentations. I feel confident that I can add an experienced touch to the production of any audio project you may need.
