I am a professionally trained actress and director having received my Bachelor of Arts at Marymount Manhattan College in NYC, transitioning my career into voice over and narration. I was an avid reader for many years but found myself misplacing that passion. In January 2023, a friend recommended a book to me. That’s all it took for me to re enter the world of books. It wasn’t long after that when I listened to my first audiobook. To my surprise, I didn’t like it! I felt like I couldn’t connect and couldn’t ease into the story like I could with a physical book. I didn’t feel ready to have someone else help me see and feel the story. After a few months, I tried again. This time, I was blown away. It was the perfect example of how much a narrator can affect the storytelling experience. Suddenly, all I wanted to do was listen and learn. In my research, I learned how the first step to get into narration is to listen to audiobooks. So I did. Over the course of the rest of 2023, on audible alone I collectively listened to over a month and 7 days of audiobooks. I find moments in my day to listen as often as I can. I have fallen asleep with my earbuds in and other times I have woken up and popped in earbuds before I even get out of bed. I desire to be fully immersed in stories and worlds as often as I can as I have never felt more alive. The reason I went into performance in general was because I wanted to amplify a story for people just like others have for me. I have been emotionally and mentally moved by stories and performances and I feel lucky to be able to feel that so deeply. Everyone should experience that type of feeling. Everyone should be able to be transported into another world in as many creative avenues as they can. Not only do I crave being the one to amplify a story for the audience, but I also crave to be the one to share the story for the author if they feel they can’t do it themselves, especially if it’s a story that I feel NEEDS to be told in every way possible. I know there have been countless books that have changed my life not just for the book itself but for the performance. If I can be part of the team that does that for someone, then I am fulfilled. I may be new in this specific category of narration, but I am not new in story telling. I have learned a substantial amount from these narrators over the last year and a half and am taking several courses to connect more dots. I would be honored to share your story for/ with you.
