I am an actress and had always been told to get into voice over, so I did. In short, made a great demo after some training and hard work. Doing this work is so freeing and fun!!! Before my demo was even finished, I'd had a voice over audition and booked 2 jobs. One was for an internet website and regional tv promo for Passion.com-a sexy voice was needed and I auditioned over the phone. They now want to use me to play a character speaking in either a French or German accent. The other was for a Private Chef's Company to do their outgoing voicemail greetings all over the country-so it was very professional. I have also worked with an animation company called DA on some character voices for some cartoons. I was on KSAC 1240 a.m. in November and December of 2007 in Sacramento doing promos and commercials for a talk radio program called the Russell C. Stiger Show.
I have been working as an actress all of my life and so always use my voice with different attitudes in various characters. I took the Kalmenson & Kalmenson Voiceover Workshop, about 2 years ago-which was a blast, informative, and fantastic! I studied with a coach who has been a professional working vo artist for about 16 years-Mari Weiss. I had voice classes for speaking and singing all throughout high school and college-Santa Monica College, UCLA, and Shakespeare in London. I have always been in the performing arts. My dad used to work for a university and did educational videos and I helped out on the voice over for that when I was quite young. My sister worked in radio for a long time, as well as did my uncle, so I was used to being around that atmosphere. I''ve always been told, "You have a great voice!" In doing the work I realize it is just being honest, as we do in acting.
Currently I have a Snowball microphone and it is professional sounding. I am able to record and then send it as an mp3. I was able to use it to record the commercials and promos for the KSAC talk radio show that airs in Sacramento.
I have also been a Trade Show Host for the LA Auto show, where I had to be live in front of an audience on display with the cars, and still answer everything professionally. I am efficient and when asked to do a job get it done on the fly. I also have read many kid's books aloud in front of groups of children, and done children's theatre with all of my character voices and stayed in character when the kids are so engaged or on the floor laughing hysterically. So, I am good in a studio, or live in front of an audience.
