I am new to this area. I have spent many years doing public speaking through my past career, which was a senior IT director at a fortune 500 company. I've spoken in front of thousands as key note speaker, presentations and product promotions, but have never done any voice-over work.
I have the correct hardware and software in my facility, and am very flexible.
Bachelors degree from Arizona State University. Numerous courses but they were field dependent and would not apply in this kind of environment.
I have access to a professional studio, my home has a semi studio and is good enough for auditioning, but not for finished work.
For most of my life I have been in senior management in the IT industry. Over the years I have had offers to do voice-over due to my up beat characteristics, and my ability to not sound 'read'. I've delivered many speaking engagements within my industry, some to large companies including Microsoft, EDS, Xerox etc but they really do not pertain to this type of work.
I am in transition now, and am making an effort to work int this industry to see what i can offer, and what it can offer me. I enjoy this type of work a lot, and really do think I have the right attitude, and voice quality to voice-over quite well.
Having an education, and great reading comprehension should help to understand concepts of scripts and direction for clients, and hey, I'll work cheap until I've got some credentials, so we both benefit.
