The first voice over John Cavanagh recorded was for a Sony Records tv campaign back in 1991, advertising a punk compilation cd album called Sound of the Suburbs. Since them his voice over and narration work has ranged from hard edged tv and radio commercials to narrating documentaries on sensitive subjects such as war and even the work of a mortuary service. In between these extremes lie a wealth of projects including audiobook narrations, corporate videos, computer games character voices, trailers for tv & radio, awards ceremonies and stage presentations including introducing Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium and Metallica from the Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donnington. My recent clients have included UNICEF Vietnam, the Visit Scotland tourism organisation, assorted newspapers, corporate business etc.
John Cavanagh began his professional work at the BBC in 1989. Since then he has become one of very few people to broadcast on all five UK national radio networks, plus World Service, Radio International, BBC Radio Scotland and other stations such as Radio Clyde, Radio Six International and lots of small stations which carry syndicated shows he presents in such places as the U.S, New Zealand and Taiwan.
Cavanagh's professional voice over work now spans over twenty one years and countless recording sessions.
He has also worked as a freelance radio trails & promotions producer for the BBC.
I use a Dave Pearlmann valve microphone as my principal voice-over instrument, recording onto Pro-Tools with optional use of the JoeMeek brand mic preamps. I can, therefore, supply edited files in WAV, AIFF etc. in the bitrate of your choice and also in MP3 format.
As someone who produces, edits and mixes commercially released music albums, I have plenty of experience in recording and supplying finished, high grade audio files.
I use Sendspace and Dropbox for swift delivery of large files.
I can work alone or directly with the client to achieve their satisfaction with each project. I'm happy and quick to take - and react to - direction, via skype, 'phone or - where possible - in person.
Turnaround can usually be within 24 hours, though obviously this is dependent on the scale of the project.
