I first learned about voice work as a promotional model. I was working a car show booth at some BMX bike event, and we had to memorize this AWFUL piece and take turns announcing it over the PA to get people to come to the booth. It was for the Pontiac Vibe, and just LOADED with double-entendre; I mean, it was really ridiculous. None of us could say it with a straight face, so as a joke, I started announcing it in a "sexy robot voice" - like, an over-the-top sultry computer AI. To my horrified amusement, it was a HUGE HIT! We stopped switching out, and I ended up being the announcer for the rest of the 3 day show. Booth traffic picked way up, my boss was thrilled, and I had a great time! Since then, I've done a lot of other work (and in other styles, thankfully!), but I'll never forget being a tiny, awkward, teenager putting on this slinky, sexy voice to ask 30,000 people "What color is YOUR Vibe?"
I have a master's degree in Educational Psychology, and I am an eLearning specialist. I frequently do my own voice overs for the courses I design. I am also capable of doing basic audio editing, a skill I started picking up reluctantly as a "necessary evil" and discovered I totally love it! My husband is a professional jazz singer, band leader, and studio vocalist, so I'm certainly no stranger to audio work.
I trained as a vocalist well into college, and I still love to sing. I also work with local entertainment company doing princess characters for children's birthday parties. I have performed "Let It Go" more times than I can count in the last year and a half!
