I’m a professional actor and character voice artist with a slightly unhealthy obsession with accents, dialects and creating completely different people through voice. I’ve built a repertoire of 40+ accents and character voices, ranging from authentic regional dialects to heightened, comedic and completely original characters. Irish, British and North American accents are particular strengths — although I’m always looking for the next one to become mildly obsessed with. For me, an accent is never just an accent. It’s about discovering who is speaking — where they’re from, how old they are, their personality, their attitude, their rhythm and, occasionally, why they sound like they’ve had a very difficult life. I love the challenge of taking a character from the page and figuring out how they actually sound. That can mean a subtle, completely believable regional accent or something much bigger, stranger and more stylised. And I take accents seriously. Perhaps too seriously. Welsh was the hardest one. I spent roughly two months talking to myself in my head in a Welsh accent. Thankfully, nobody could hear me. At least, I hope nobody could hear me. It was probably the most productive conversation I’ve ever had with myself. I’m particularly suited to: • Character voices & character acting • Animation & animated characters • Video games • Film & television • Comedy & comedic characters • Character-driven commercials • Audio drama & podcasts • Audiobooks & storytelling • Narration with character • Dubbing & ADR-style work Accents & dialects: Irish, Dublin, Cork, Northern Irish, British, London/Cockney, Scottish, Welsh, American, Southern American and a growing collection of regional and character-specific accents. I’m comfortable playing multiple characters in the same production and switching between voices, accents, ages and personalities. I take direction well and enjoy finding the small details that make a voice feel like a real person rather than simply an accent being performed. Whether you need the believable guy next door, an eccentric comic character, a villain, a larger-than-life personality, or several completely different characters from the same actor, I love the challenge. Give me a character, an accent and a few lines — I’ll find the person behind the voice.
