I started out as radio dj (Top 40-Rock) for 20 years thus had my share of recording and producing radio commercials, After that, I built my own professional independent recording studio in Houston, Texas in late 1976 JAY WEST PRODUCTIONS. Strictly created for producing radio commercials, tv voice-overs and industrial
narrations. I have worked with advertising agencies, voice talent and direct clients for 29 years. Of course I had my share of voice-overs myself. I can tell you I have worked with many talented and creative producers as well as voice talents over the years.
I graduated from the American High School in Mexico City.
While a senior, I started my radio career at the only English language radio station in Mexico City (XEL). From their, I migrated to Texas to continue my radio career in the Rio Grande Valley. I finished out my radio career in Houston at one of the nations top radio stations (KILT-5 years in early to mid 1970's).
From then, until now,,,I continue to record and produce radio voice overs as well as tv vo's and narrations of various types. I did not attend college nor any seminars, etc...as I learned by doing.
I currently work out of my house with built-in recording studio.
It is a totally digital computer driven studio. I am using Pro Tools Digi-002 software and Ramsa DA-7 mixing board. Main microphone is Rode-NTV + ElectroVoice-PL-20 mic. The computer used in studio is a Mac Pro with a 2 x 2 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon. OS X -Vers. 10.4.11 operating system.
The type of voice over tv and radio production I have done the most of is:
Retail (Sears, JC Penney, etc...) car dealerships, banks, grocery stores...etc. Industrial narrations consist mainly of Safety programs, Oil and gas companies, Hospitals, Medical, etc...
Finally, Many, many "on hold" telephone messages for various businesses.
