I've had over a thousand voices running around in my head longer than the 22 years I've been a Broadcaster. Not to mention the 10 years of Night Club Experience. Somewhere along the way, I got a degree, which is in storage in Iowa, one of the 6 states I've lived in. I've spent nearly my entire broadcasting career in commercial voice work, producing and script writing. I've won numerous National & Regional Awards for Excellence in Producing and Copywriting.

I learned (or learnt, as the Brits say) how to do this initially, by spending a lot of time entertaining myself while waiting for my Dad to finish his rounds as a Doctor in San Francisco. I would try to mimick the street performers, the mime's were the hardest. Eventually, I got into radio commercial production and found a venue for all these voices I have.

I have had over 200 distinctly different jobs in my life. From shoveling s*** in a Dairy, Farm/Ranch hand, working cowboy, short-order cook and Denny's manager to Ranger/Guard for the U.S. Forestry Service, Fire-Fighter, Night CLub DJ/VJ, Chain Saw Instructor YACC, Heavy Equipment Operator and Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Alllllllll of this experience has introduced me to a variety of lifestyles and people whom I can immitate for more effective commercials. I've picked up tons of dialects and accents, and can tell you if you're from Western or Eastern Pennsylvania as well as Michigan Normal or the UP.
I've done all these jobs professionaly and I bring those sensibilities to the table when I'm writing/voicing and producing commercials to appeal to specific genders/demographics/professions. Consumers are a thousand times more savvy than they were 20 years ago and they don't cotton to being patronized and they turn a deaf ear to insincere deliveries. You want to sell someone something they don't actually NEED? You've got to grab 'em by the heart, mind and wallet.
