My first voice over experience was when I was cast as Telma in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess English Fandub on Zelda Universe's YouTube channel. As of the date of this application, the most popular chapters in which Telma is featured have received 36,000 views in 12 months with rave reviews. Telma's most significant involvement in the storyline can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c2llrJOaAk&list=PLUEexOMzLsXgnKLq1BC_4ZunkFs8sjcv9&index=7
Currently, I'm seeking to supplement my salary as a speech therapist with voice over work with the eventual goal of replacing it entirely.
While I have not received formal voice over training yet, I have a master's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from WSU where I earned a reputation for having a very refined ear for subtle nuances in speech. I'm a licensed speech language pathologist in my ninth year in the field. My training and formal education includes listening for voice quality, resonance, articulation, and differentiating between dialect and articulation disorders.
I also played violin for twelve years as a young adult, performed on-stage and back-stage in local theatre, and even provided voice recordings for stage productions.
I have a dedicated space in my home for recordings. I use my Yeti Blue condenser mic with Audacity software for voice files. I also have access to a professional recording studio capable of 8 tracks of audio, should the need arise.
Because of my formal SLP training, I can teach myself accents and dialects using my professional resources as an SLP that may not be accessible to others outside the field. I also have live theatre experience both on stage with speaking roles in musical theatre and straight plays, and in back stage roles.
More so than my professional skills, I value my natural aptitude in interpersonal skills. I pride myself in being thick-skinned when given constructive criticism, and take special care to maintain a positive attitude and a growth mindset in projects. I take direction well and I'm not averse to asking questions when I'm faced with a challenge. Above all things, I want to be seen as someone with whom anyone can work easily. I want to be someone whom anyone can approach without fear or judgement.
