Blew the cover on Steinbach's "Secret Sale": Announced it in professional spots I produced for Y107, Long Branch, New Jersey. In a lively, fun, very popular spot for Casa Comida, wished everyone a Feliz Navidad with Jose Feliciano singing away in the background. Wrote and aired the news, live, every morning during Baroque and Eggs for Classical KBOQ-FM, Monterey, California, covering weather and sports, election coverage and Irag war. Won two news awards: AP and Suburban Newspapers Assn of America. The first demonstrates VO work: Covered, live, 48 hours, Tornado damage from first twister to touch down in Berkeley Township, NJ, scooping up the AP for Best Spot News. The second involved a newspaper account.
Award-winning news reporter and writer. Learned, literally, on the job. My BS in French, was truly that. (Don't know much about his-tor-y.) My true learning began with my first, ever, stint as a reporter: A cub, working for free, in between French lessions, interviewing Bill Beutel on his coverage of Watergate. Worked my way through college, graduated in three years. Upon graduation, worked by day, in the public school system as a teacher. Snuck in the real fun work as a freelance reporter at night - covered everything from five-hour zoning board meetings to big criminal trials. My first real full-time staff reporter job was for the News Transcript, Freehold, NJ. That's when I learned that there wasn't a safe drinking water well in the Garden State. Just about every meeting I covered evolved into an environmental story. Won a national award for a feature I wrote on a boy who was diagnosed with lead poisoning. His baseball lay next to a Superfund soup left by an asphalt operation hell bent on destroying the state's drinking water supply: It sat atop a major drinking water acquifer re-charge area. When a radio station's director called to talk to me about the story, he hired me, on the spot, when he heard my voice. On that job one week when the tornado hit, catapulting me into an exhausting live 24-hour coverage of the storm's wrath. Won an Associated Press BEST SPOT NEWS STORY AWARD for the station. Also covered, as their only full-time radio news reporter, live and recorded pieces and special reports on federal court cases, county government, more lead, more pollution before being recruited by the Toms River editor of the Asbury Park Press. Then covered the courthouse, criminal trials, a very wet Greenpeace adventure surrounding a leaking pipeline and the breaking news. Since those good old days, I have studied screenwriting at UCLA, taken a screenwriting bootcamp workshop in San Fran and have produced my own fitness film. I also have 600 hours of pilates training and experience, teach yoga. Function, daily, as a self-employed certified personal trainer with trademarked products.
Zip. But have access to two good studios, locally.
I have a keen interest in fitness and am very knowledgeable in the area of pilates. Can dance up a storm. Won an award as best female dancer on the dance floor at a Chamber/United Way function.
