Zero so far aside from personal entertainment for myself, friends and family. I have always been able to mimic, sing, and I've been told multiple times that I have an excellent voice for this kind of work. I've decided to give it a try.
Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts helped me hone my vocal talents with classes in radio broadcast, choral studies, and drama studies.
My career entails talking on the phone and communicating via CB radio, so my voice is worked constantly and does not tire easily. I'm very accustomed to talking for long period of time in a certain tone suited for customer service purposes, as well as in an assertive tone as I work in security and policing currently as a dispatcher. I have to maintain a calm demeanor while dealing with emergency situations, and have been told that I am the "favored" voice to hear during a high stress incident.
-Apex 435 condenser microphone
-Skullcandy studio quality noise cancelling headphones
-My homemade sound booth (a large Rubbermaid bin lined with memory foam)
-Audacity
I can sing very well. Operatic, musical theatre style, pop, jazz, I can mimic a 40s or 50s lounge singer, and I can sing some classic rock tunes quite well (Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin is my greatest accomplishment in this category). I also believe that my voice would be very well suited to the electronica genre.
My career field is Dispatch, so I can very easily speak in an authoritative tone, or in an empathetic and understanding tone. I have a customer service tone (friendly, helpful...) for the majority of the time I am working.
