In a business setting, I have given a pleasant vocal first impression of my employers to customers while working as a receptionist, customer service representative and legal assistant.
As a customer service rep, I demonstrated the ability to present upsells to customers in a conversational tone. Customers who may not have wanted the additional products allowed me to continue my upsell because I sounded convincing, spontaneous and pleasant while not appearing as though I was reading from a script.
As a legal assistant, I often made appearances in court on an attorney's behalf and demonstrated authoritative poise and professionalism.
I have not received any formal vocal training. However, I am currently looking into available options for training, workshops, web seminars, etc. in my area.
As a child, I was always performing -- whether in the classroom (with the teacher's permission of course), city-wide oratory contests, and school plays. My most memorable school performance was as the 110 year old Jane Pittman in elementary school).
Children seem to love my vocal inflections. I have gone to my children's school on several occasions to read to the class -- drawing the students into the story.
With adults, I use my voice to charm and break the ice using a dry sense of humor.
