She said she liked my poetry but loved my voice. Like most things done by young men I worked on improving both of them for her. She left me as we went off to college but I continued to work on those talents. I became a Poet, Author, Actor and Spokenword artist who has been a South Eastern Champion and vied for National Championships. James Earl Jones has been the most often used comparison but my voice range has increased significantly as well as the number of characters, dialects, impersonations and emotions I am able to convey. My experience in voice overs encompasses multiple CD's of various genres, stage performances and video recordings as well as hosting Soulstice Lounge Radio program weekly on 103.5 FM WCOM in Chapel Hill. I am presently working on an audio book and voicing animation for a web serial. Additional samples on my website.
I am a professional Spokenword and Performance artist. My training includes countless workshops (taken and taught), competitive Slam Poetry up to the International level as well as many live performances across the country. I've taken Theater Speech in college and performed in several plays in the last 2 years. I am also a radio personality who hosts a weekly show on community radio.
I have a simple home studio which uses M Audio and Pro Tools SE (Grrr!) so I am able to do some recordings and post work from home. I also have access to local studios if the a higher level of recording quality is needed for your project.
Before becoming a career artists I worked in social services. My passion is working for the betterment of the community, global community, and so I gravitate toward projects toward that end. I conduct writing and performance workshops regularly in schools, churches, community centers and for adult writers and performers honing their craft. I am a poet first and love words, characters and creating worlds with the voice with which I was blessed.
